Actions are by Intentions
Faith & Worship
إِنَّمَا الأَعْمَالُ بِالنِّيَّاتِ وَإِنَّمَا لِكُلِّ امْرِئٍ مَا نَوَى
"Actions are only by intentions, and every person will have only what they intended."

Narrated by:

Umar ibn Al-Khattab (رضي الله عنه) - Sahih Al-Bukhari and Sahih Muslim

This is one of the most fundamental hadith in Islam. It teaches us that the value of our actions depends on our intentions. Key Lessons:

  • Always check your intentions before doing any action
  • Seek Allah's pleasure in all your deeds
  • Don't do good deeds just to show off to others
